Memories

Our lives begin with being born, living our lives, and then passing on in the end

With people who have passed on, we have only memories of them

At times you wish you could talk to that person about something only they would know

Whether it be important or not, you wish you could ask

When we are born we don't remember anything for about the first 2 to 4 years

Our first memories stick with us and we rarely forget

When we are living our lives, we make many memories

Some good memories, some bad, but we all have memories of something

Some of us will have long lives with many memories

Some will only have a short life, with a few memories

We all have at least one very special memory that will live with us forever

Memories make us who we are

When our time comes to pass on in the end

Our memories will go with us

And memories of us will always live on

When You're Here, You're Family

We've all heard that commercial "When you're here, you're family"
That's how I feel when I'm at work
We've all laughed together or at each other
We've all cried together when someone's hurting
We all care about each other in some way
We may not all be related, but it's our second family
When something is wrong, we all worry
Waiting to hear that everything is going to be ok
That's one of the hardest things to do
We've all hung out at some point in time
Whether it's at work, our homes, or a night out on the town
Our children have also become friends
We have taught them what family really is
You don't have to be related to call them family
Especially when we've all worked together for so many years
We want everything to be ok and for you to be back
Part of our family is missing, without you here
We are all praying for you and ready to help
No matter what it takes, we are here for you
We love you and we want you back with us
Please get better, we will help you fight
Whatever you need, don't be afraid to ask
All we want is for our family to be complete
Just remember, when you're here, you're family
We love you

You never really know what you've got, until it's gone
We take advantage of what we have and think it will be there forever
Good friends are hard to come by, and sometimes hard to be one
The people you think aren't really that good of friends
Sometimes surprise you and help you out, without you even asking
When they do something like that, it makes you realize some people deserve that chance to be your good friend
But sometimes you don't realize that until it's too late
I had a friend who helped me out, without me asking
I offered my services when she needed it in the future
But then it was too late, she passed away
Out of all the friends that I have, she was the only one who showed up to help me that day
I thanked her over and over again and told her how wonderful she was to help me out
That is one thing I have to remember her by now
She was there when I needed someone, and when no one else was there to help
It just really makes you realize how short life can be
And holding grudges isn't worth it
So for those friends or family members, realize how short life is
And stop holding grudges for dumb or no reason
Because you never realize what you have, until it's gone

Friends

Many people pass through our lives
Some we notice as people we know
Others we just see once when paths are crossed
Many people you wouldn’t consider a best friend
Some are your best friends forever
A lot of people touch our hearts in one way or another
Sometimes you don’t realize that until it’s too late
On one particular day I had a friend that I served breakfast to every morning
She smiled and said, "Oh there’s my best friend!"
I looked around, and at once realized she meant me
I smiled and had a short conversation with her
She and I would always talk about many things
We had so many differences in our lives
She has lived longer and been through so many more things
It is interesting to talk to someone and really get to know what they have gone through in their lifetime
It doesn’t matter if you are older or younger
What matters is how you treat each other and enjoy each others company
Many people who are in nursing homes need a friend
Whether it be a friend to talk to or just sit next to they need a friend
Instead of thinking of them as "residents", think of them as your friend
People would be surprised at what they find out
And how different things were in different decades
I believe where I work, I can make a new friend every day
If I take one minute to sit down and just say hello
A best friend doesn’t have to be someone you "hang out" with
A best friend is there for you and you are there for your best friend
So stop for just one minute and say hello to someone
You never know how fascinating their lives have been
And maybe how fascinating your life is to them

Angels and Miracles...written for my father

Angels make miracles happen for people all the time
Usually in a lifetime a person has at least one miracle performed on them
My father was a miracle in himself by healing others and helping others
He worked his whole life for God and with Him
He had many angels watching over him and helping him in many ways
He never complained of his illness, nor did he show his pain
He overcame so many battles with illness so many times
My mother always said it was his Norwegian blood
I always said he was a miracle man
The final miracle was my father meeting God
And becoming an angel to perform more miracles
